The Town of Micanopy, Florida

The Town of Micanopy encompasses 1.03 square miles near the Alachua-Marion County line in rural north-central Florida between Gainesville and Ocala. It's where the 1991 film "Doc Hollywood" was filmed. It's a quiet town with many antique stores. Most stores are only open on the weekend.

Driving Directions

Take I-75 to exit 374 (Micanopy) and head east on County Road 234. Follow the signs to Historic Micanopy. You can also take State Road 441 to Cholokka Blvd, which runs through the historic part of town.

Traveling by Air

Gainesville Regional Airport is 30 minutes north of Micanopy and has a few American Airlines and Delta flights each day. I highly recommend flying into this airport and taking an Uber to my home.

Orlando International Airport is approximately 1.5 - 2 hours south of Micanopy. Add extra time to rent the car & any traffic delays (Flights tend to arrive very late and depart early in the day)

Jacksonville International Airport is approximately 1.5 hours northeast of Micanopy. Add extra time to rent a car. You will be driving through small towns and secluded back roads to get here. According to a recent client, the rental car company requires a $500 deposit.  (Take an Uber from Gainesville instead)
